Back to back wins for Town

Tuesday night saw town travel the short distance to East Preston looking to build on Saturday’s strong performance and pick up another 3 points. The hosts recently parted ways with their manager so Town knew that it could be an unpredictable team that they were going to face and with the recent rain an surface that they hadn’t played on in a while. Murphy made one change from Saturday with Heath coming in for C Tilley and the boy’s started on fire with Cousins going close in the first 30 seconds and that continued for the remained of the first half with chances for Heath, Boiling, McGrath and Cousins again all going close or being denied by the home keeper. It took Town 30 minutes to break the deadlock when a quick free kick from Boiling played in Heath down the right who jinked pass the fullback to swing a cross into Cousins who smashed home.

0-1

That seem to shock the hosts into playing a bit more direct and just before half time they won a free kick just outside the Town box, with the No.8 swinging in a dangerous ball to the back post but the No9 couldn’t get his header on target.

HT 0-1

Town were kicking down the hill in the second half and it was that man Cousins again who went close 2 minutes in when he broke down the left and dance past the defender only to shoot just wide. It was clear to see that Murphy had told the boys to break with pace and the next chance came for Heath after good work from Bold in the middle of the park with a through ball splitting the defence but again the shot drifted wide, but we could sense another goal was coming. Town worked the ball out wide to Faber who swung in a delicious cross to pick out a “salmon” like jump from McGrath to power a header home from just inside the hosts box giving the keeper no chance.

0-2

Chances came and went for Town with a Faber free header, a Bold free kick and Cousins again all going close but it finished with just the two goals for Town. Credit the East Preston in a difficult period and with a young side they had chances but it wasn’t there night.

Town are back at home on Saturday as the host Horsham YM ko 3pm, your support is always welcome.
