Peacehaven & Telscombe 1 – 1 STCFC
The first team snatched a late draw away to Peacehaven & Telscombe FC on Saturday. The late headed goal from Fitzpatrick was the reward for a fighting display from the Barrowman
In the end, it was a game that could’ve gone either way in the last 10 minutes although over the course of the game the hosts had created a number of good opportunities.
Steyning’s best opportunity before the goal came when Andrade headed against the crossbar midway through the second half.
Peacehaven’s chances over the course of the game led to a number of great saves by JJ to keep the Barrowman in with a shout.
The first save was stopping a low drive early on when denying a one on one chance.
The best of the saves was a double save in a frenetic goalmouth scramble just seconds after the Steyning equaliser where 4 or 5 last-ditch saves and blocks happened in quick succession. of the ball.
Overall our backline as ever looked relatively solid under a lot of pressure and the whole side worked really hard to close space all afternoon.
Chances for us were relatively few but we did manage to create here and there and the introduction of Romain for the last 30 minutes noticeably improved the quality of our passing game.
For a week where we were missing Maher, Weston & Haulkham this can be considered a really good point.
The draw puts the Barrowman on seven points after six games and keeps us just below mid-table as we look forward to an away trip against East Preston on Tuesday night.
