Crawley Down Gatwick 0 – 0 STCFC

Town’s trip up to Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday resulted in another 0-0 draw, making it six draws in the last seven league fixtures.

On a cold and gloomy afternoon at the Haven, unfortunately, the match was pretty much as dull as the weather.

It was a largely scrappy and quite ‘bitty’ affair not helped by a ‘whistle happy’ referee who seemed to have an obsession with not letting the game flow, regularly blowing up for the most innocuous reasons.

Neither side created an awful lot, the closest we came was when Lewis Levoi shot just wide of left before the break and in the closing minutes Sabino struck a decent free-kick that clipped the Anvils crossbar.

On balance, the home side looked the more likely to score and we can thank some good work from Ben Rose, on three occasions making full stretch saves to keep them out.

Still, another point on the road against a decent side to stand us in good stead for a testing week.

On Tuesday we are in Cup action again with a short hop down to Culver Road for a ‘3G’ derby with Lancing in the SCFA RUR Cup (KO 7.30pm).

Then next Saturday, in the League, we have the tough test of a trip over to leaders Eastbourne Town (KO @ the Saffrons 3pm).
