Town traveled along the coast to Peacehaven on Saturday looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s defeat away at Pagham.  Murphy made two changes with Heath coming in for C Tilley and debut for new signing Hawkins. Town looked on top from the first whistle as they pressed well from the front with Cousins causing the home defence trouble along with Heath and Howell as support acts. Town came close to opening the scoring on 6 minutes when Cousins chased the home centre half then nicked the ball only to shoot wide, but it was that man again 3 minutes later who pounced on a defensive mix up to slot home.

It was all Town the on in and chance come and went for Heath, Bold and Howell but they just couldn’t grab another goal before the half.

HT 0-1

Peacehaven came out the second half and were kick “downhill” and seemed to find an extra yard and started to cause Timms and Boiling problems with their directness but never really threatened Hawkins in the Town goal. It took the home team until the 70th minute to snatch an equaliser and it was a familiar face who had a free header at the back post when Benson nodded home.

It was then a Peacehaven, and the Town defence friendly gave in on 85 minutes when a deep ball found Benson again who thought he won it only for Hawkins to pull off a wonderful save only for the ball to drop to the sub who smashed home.

Town pushed for a equaliser and had a chance in the dying minutes when Tilley was sent through only to shoot wide.
